STs, use physical techniques to treat injuries and other problems in athletes. They also teach people how to prevent damage and improve performance.

An ST can vary massively in skills and ability, and as a profession there are many different skills that one may offer, and another not…

This refers to “Hands on”  techniques directly affecting muscles, ligaments and tendons – “soft tissues”.  Unfortunately the profession is not currently statutorily regulated – meaning anyone can call themselves a sports therapist. Here we make sure everyone is qualified (for the techniques and skills offered) and insured and self-regulate.  There are organisations you can join and adhere to their standards to give the public confidence and peace of mind.  Mike currently works with the Sports Therapy Organisation (STO).

At Watford Injury Studio, we are trained in “Problem finding” and providing the appropriate interventions. A “routine” alone will rarely fix an on going, Chronic issue and multiple modalities may be required, such as an in depth assessment, followed by the relevant manual techniques – then corrective exercises.

The service we provide are designed to go to the source of the issue, and not just the symptoms.
